Biography
Dr. Ali İlker Baştan is a pioneer in the field of laser dentistry. He is an implant dentistry specialist and oral surgeon and serves at his Dental Clinic in Bağdat Street, Istanbul.
Dr. Baştan completed his education at the Faculty of Dentistry at Istanbul University and was the first physician to receive a master’s degree in Oral Implantology at Yeditepe University. He completed this program with a thesis on “Postoperative CT Evaluation of Implant Treatments Supported by Panoramic Radiographs in the Preoperative Period”. Since this period, he has been working intensively on dental implant surgery and implant supported prosthesis. He then completed a mastership program in the field of Laser Therapy Applications in Dentistry, a joint program between RWTH Aachen University and Bezmialem University. This program included a detailed program on laser physics, safety and use, covering theoretical and biophysical backgrounds as well as clinical indications and applications of laser wavelengths used in dentistry. Following this program, Dr. Baştan successfully completed his PhD program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Ondokuz Mayıs University and received the title of Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He did his doctoral study on the thesis titled “Evaluation of stress distribution of dental implant application in different numbers and designs for single tooth replacement under functional and parafunctional forces by finite element analysis method”.
Since this period, Dr. Baştan has integrated laser-assisted systems into clinical applications in both oral, dental and maxillofacial surgery practice areas and dental implant surgeries, increasing treatment success rates at high levels. Dr. Baştan has shared his experiences and experiences with written and oral statements in both national and international symposiums. Dr. Baştan’s commitment to education is exemplified by his observer role in the USA as well as numerous certifications, including those obtained from advanced training courses in oral and maxillofacial surgical techniques and comprehensive implant training. Dr. Baştan has also actively participated in numerous seminars, symposia and congresses addressing topics ranging from implantology to sustainable development in dentistry.
Based on the concept of holistic dentistry, Dr. Baştan provides services in his clinic in the field of aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry, as well as soft and hard tissue reconstruction, which is the basis of tissue engineering. In addition, Dr. Baştan continues his professional studies online with Stanford University Plastic Surgery department.
Currently, Dr. Baştan’s book titled “Laser Arts in Oral Surgery” written in English is in the printing stage.
